aj's link dimension
cool ass links

here's a bunch of links i like; half for my own reference, half to share with you. updated as frequently as i come across new links...which is not often, but sometimes!

archives

Library of Babel: a library containing...almost everything. all possible pages of 3200 characters that have ever, will ever, and can ever be written. any phrase you can possibly conjure is in there, likely sandwiched between gibberish, but possibly between both your parents' names, or between the person who killed jfk and all the lyrics to the gummy bear song. who knows! the library of babel does.

NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day: exactly what it sounds like: a huge archive of space pictures spanning June 16 1995–now. how cool it is to see the advancements in imaging technology over the years? oh, and space. space is cool too.

GifCities: insanely large archive of gifs, mostly from geocities. i use this thing like it's social media.

Library Genesis: you know...libgen. it has...stuff on it. did you know it has roots in the illegal underground samizdat culture in the Soviet Union? me neither. that's what wikipedia says.

nostalgia

Minesweeper: my favourite classic minesweeper game! no ads, only mines to sweep...

WhizzBall!: some 2000's gaming nostalgia for ya; i've been waiting for this shit to drop FOREVER. this was one of my favourite games as a kid. it's a puzzle-building and sharing game, but it also kinda reminds me of the 90's I Spy books for some reason?

tools

Convertio: my current favourite all-purpose file converter.

YTMP3: my current favourite youtube to mp3/mp4 converter.

Optimizilla: my current favourite image compressor.

147 Colors: a simple, useful list of css colour names.

school

Desmos: most of you have probably used desmos for math class, or have at least heard of it before. what you may not know is that along with being a useful graphing calculator, it also has a plain ol' scientific calculator that's perfect for using when you forget to pack your own which, for me, is often.

Symbolab: mostly useful for solving equations, differentials, integrals, matrices, and more complex things than a simple numerical calculation. craps out on me sometimes though. upper year math too hard for a computer .-.

random

The Useless Web: you already know this one, a true relic of the beforetimes. well, not the before-beforetimes, just pre-covid and pre-tiktok, when the world made a little more sense. anyways. if you don't know this site, go check it out. it's exactly what you think it is.

4-Hour Smooth Jazz: listen. this is the ONLY study music i have listened to since 2016. i don't know how i found it, but i've been stubborn enough to keep it for 7 years. it's literally the most average smooth jazz you'll ever hear and that's why i like it.
